Our Mission
To help people be the best version of themselves using fitness and community
MCCF has been operating since 2013, our team of professional coaches have the experience to help you avoid frustrating mistakes that derail people. We consider it a privilege and a responsibility serving you on your journey to your fittest, healthiest body.
Ashton Purkiss
Owner/Head Coach Ashton Purkiss has been coaching CrossFit since 2010 and specializes in identifying the most important thing an individual needs to progress. Whether your goals are performance, health and longevity, or to look a certain way, every person needs a healthy foundation of movement (joint health) and lifestyle habits in order to reach your full potential.
‘Coaching has evolved for me over the years to be about identifying what the whole person needs and then delivering that in the form of movement or a conversation. I believe that fitness is freedom and am driven by being able to share the freedom that comes with living in a fit body. That expression might be hiking a mountain, going surfing, being able to play with your kids, or compete in a CrossFit competition. Overcoming physical challenge develops a mindset that carries over to other aspects of life, your confidence, attitude, and how you approach anything life throws at you.
In my spare time I love to write/journal, crash my mountain bike into trees, and spend time with my beautiful family.‘

‘My favourite thing about coaching is getting to share my passion and excitement for intentional movement with others. Coaching gives me the opportunity to connect to people in a very real way and meet them where they are at.’
To Lilli coaching is largely about the relationships with people and she uses every interaction to create change for the better.
‘Even beyond fitness, a coach is a friend and a confidant that always wants and sees the best in you. Being a coach allows me to connect to people in many different ways than just teaching, seeing and correcting.
My favourite place to clear my head is upside down 🙃 and I am the 2x spaghetti eating champion (Italian Festival Cairns).‘

I’ve met some of the best friends and most amazing people of my life since I joined the wider CrossFit Community. Coaching gives Trav the opportunity to help people become better. ‘I love seeing people grow in the gym. It really set a tone to what they can achieve outside of the gym. Being a coach allows me to help people and I get to do it in a professional and community environment.’
In 2023 Trav received the spirit of the box award for the energy, and the care that he brings.
‘Something fun that not many people would know about me is that I used to be a tour guide out in central Australia, taking groups on adventurous hikes and eating bush tucker, I also made it to the semi finals 2yrs in a row of Australian Ninja Warrior.’

‘To me a coach is a guide and support a person to help people be where they want to be in their journey, I find it extremely rewarding and it makes me happy.‘
